Built on Service, Not Just a Signature
Agribusiness Insurance
Complacency is the norm in agricultural insurance. Too many agents sign the policy in February and go quiet until next year. At UnCommon Farms, we take a hands-on, year-round approach by actively managing and reviewing your coverage so your farm’s revenue and assets are protected when it matters most.
Your Coverage Is Only as Good as the Agent Behind It
For most crops, crop insurance policies have a sales closing window of March 15th. Once that window closes, most agents move on. They’re not reviewing your policy in April. They’re not thinking about your operation heading into harvest. They’re not your phone call when something changes. You just don’t know it until you need them and they aren’t there.
That’s the gap we exist to fill at UnCommon Farms Insurance Solutions. Our team works your policy year-round by auditing coverage, anticipating changes, and staying close to your operation long after the ink dries. It’s what we call the service that happens after the sale. And for most farms, it’s the service they’ve never had.
Our Insurance Solutions
We cover both sides of your farm’s insurance needs—crop protection and physical asset coverage—with dedicated expertise in each.
Crop Insurance
Protect your yield and revenue against the unpredictable. We navigate the complexities of Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs) to build a proactive, year-round crop protection strategy for your operation.
Property & Casualty Insurance
Year-round protection for your farm’s physical assets, vehicles, and equipment. We partner with Nationwide to make sure every corner of your operation stays covered, not just your crops.
Don't Wait for a Claim to Find Out You're Under-Covered
Your operation deserves an agent who’s working on your policy in April just as hard as in February. Partner with a team that takes the service that happens after the sale seriously because that’s where the real work begins.
We’ve Been on Both Sides of the Table
The UnCommon Farms insurance team brings nearly a century of combined experience in agricultural insurance. Our agent staff alone accounts for nearly a century of combined experience in the insurance industry. That level of depth is the difference between an agent who navigates your policy and one who just processes it.
What makes us genuinely different: almost our entire team has spent time working on the carrier side of the business. We’ve sat inside Approved Insurance Providers (AIPs) like Agrisampo, Great American, RCIS, and Rain and Hail. We understand how they think, how they structure decisions, and where the rules create real opportunity—or real risk—for your farm. We use that knowledge every time we review a policy.
Know Your Numbers Before Anyone Tries Selling You Anything
Most farmers head into harvest without a clear picture of their trigger yield and price. Our interactive Crop Insurance Calculator gives you a high-level baseline for your coverage needs in minutes with no forms, no agent call required. Use it before planting season. Use it heading into harvest. Use it whenever you want to know exactly where your policy stands.
Are You Sure Your Current Agent Got It Right?
Farmer loyalty runs deep. We understand that. Most operations have worked with the same insurance agent for years, and that relationship has real value. We’re not here to blow it up. We’re here to make sure the coverage underneath that relationship is actually doing its job.
In our experience auditing policies written by other agents, we regularly find gaps. Not because anyone was being dishonest, but because many agents aren’t doing the hard work to get it right. They set it up once and let it roll. We review your current policy in detail, walk you through how it actually works, and show you specifically what we’d approach differently.
Because the crop insurance sales closing window is cyclical—closing in mid-March—we start working well before those deadlines. If you connect with us today, we’re already building the picture for next season’s coverage.
UnCommon Farms Insurance Solutions is an equal opportunity provider.
Farm Insurance FAQ
What's the difference between crop insurance and P&C for my farm?
Crop insurance protects your yield and revenue from production losses, including weather, pests, and other covered perils. It runs on a seasonal cycle with annual sales windows. Property and casualty covers your physical assets: buildings, equipment, vehicles, and infrastructure. P&C is year-round with no closing window. Many operations need both, so our team handles both under one roof.
When should I reach out if the sales window doesn't open until spring?
Now. We start auditing and reviewing existing policies months before the window opens. If you wait until February, your options are limited and the clock is already running. Connect with us early and we’ll have a clear plan ready before the deadline.
Do I have to be ready to switch agents to get a policy review?
Not at all. The policy review is where every conversation starts. We review what you have, explain how it works, and identify anything we’d do differently with no obligation to move. If your current coverage is solid, we’ll tell you that. Our goal is to make sure your farm is protected correctly. The rest follows from there.
You Signed the Policy, but Has Your Agent Checked It Since?
Most policies get renewed, not reviewed. Our team audits your current coverage in detail, finding the gaps, explaining what you actually have, and telling you straight what we’d do differently. Schedule a policy review to start the conversation.
