Agriculture Training Programs

The agriculture industry is changing faster than most farms can keep up. Your clients and team need real-world strategies, not classroom theory. Tap into self-paced and live training courses designed for operators at every level, delivered by advisors who live it.

We Provide the Experts for You To Empower Your People

UnCommon Farms partners with agricultural organizations, lenders, co-ops, and industry leaders who want to deliver high-impact education directly to their networks. Whether you want to bring our experts in to teach a room of 30 of your best clients, or you need specialized instruction built for your internal team, we design our approach around your goals rather than a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

This isn’t a course catalog you scroll through and add to a cart. It’s a partnership. Tell us who you’re trying to reach, what they need to know, and we’ll build the right experience to get them there. Pricing is custom and structured around your group’s size and scope.

A Course for Every Aspect of the Operation

From introductory fundamentals to advanced executive-level strategy, our Learning and Development Toolbox covers the full operational spectrum of a modern farm business. We deliver instruction in-person, virtually, and via live webinar — across every discipline that separates a farm that survives from one that scales and endures.

Financials & Accounting

Most farmers know what they made last year. Fewer know why—or what to do about it. Our financial training cuts through the noise, giving operators the tools to read their books, benchmark their performance, and make decisions their lender can’t make for them. From boot camp basics to managerial analysis, this is the financial fluency every farm CEO needs.

Example courses include:

  • Financial Boot Camp (Ag Accounting Concepts)
  • Capital Finance and Investing
  • Cost of Production
  • Benchmarking
  • Taking Control of Your Finances

Human Resources

Labor is one of the top operational risks in agriculture, and most farms don’t have an HR framework that can handle growth. Our HR training is the most comprehensive in the industry: 30+ courses covering everything from recruiting and onboarding to compensation strategy, performance management, legal compliance, and the family dynamics that complicate it all. Build the team structure that makes scaling possible.

Example courses include:

  • HR Boot Camp
  • 12-Module Supervisor Training Course
  • HR for Farm Leaders
  • Recruiting Process
  • How to Attract, Retain and Engage Employees

Leadership & Management Skills

Today’s farm operator isn’t just managing acres. They’re managing relationships, decisions, and people at a level most agriculture programs never trained them for. Our leadership curriculum is built for operators who are ready to stop working in the business and start working on it. From an Academy mini-MBA to emerging leaders development and landowner relations, this is how farm CEOs are built.

Example courses include:

  • Academy Mini-MBA
  • 10-Part Supervisor Training
  • GM Skillset
  • Time Management
  • Communication Skills

Succession & Transition Planning

Transition planning is one of the most complex and emotionally loaded challenges a farm family faces—and most start too late. Our succession training covers every dimension: entity structure, tax strategy, wealth management, family guiding principles, leadership transition, and the business continuity frameworks that protect a farm’s legacy from one generation to the next. Not a checklist. A complete system.

Example courses include:

  • Succession Basics
  • Tax Planning
  • Wealth Management
  • Leadership Transition
  • Business Continuity

Risk Management

Risk isn’t just crop insurance. It’s grain marketing decisions, people management, financial exposure, and operational blind spots that most farms don’t identify until they’ve already cost money. Our risk management training gives operators the frameworks to see risk coming — and the tools to manage it before it manages them.

Example courses include:

  • Basic Grain Futures
  • Basic Grain Options
  • Basic Grain Marketing
  • Advanced Grain Marketing
  • Grain Sales Plan

Business Strategy

Strategy without execution is wishful thinking. Our business strategy courses help farm operations build the corporate infrastructure, governance structures, and planning frameworks that turn vision into results. From foundational business planning to vertical integration, technology adoption, and org design, this is how operations built to last get structured.

Example courses include:

  • Corporate Structure
  • HR Components of Business Strategy
  • Internships
  • Boards / Advisory Boards
  • Governance

Business Development & Marketing

Growth doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built through deliberate landowner relationships, a clear business development plan, and the communication skills to differentiate your operation in a competitive market. Our business development courses help farm leaders think and act like the CEOs they need to become.

Example courses include:

  • Growth
  • Differentiation
  • Diversification
  • Landowner Relations
  • Leases

Safety & Crisis Management

Farms are high-risk environments. A single safety incident or unplanned crisis can derail an entire season or an entire operation. Our safety and crisis management training gives farm teams the protocols, documentation, and response frameworks to protect their people, their equipment, and their business when things go sideways.

Example courses include:

  • Safety: Confined Spaces, Semi Driving, Equipment Usage, Livestock Handling, First Aid, Emergency Action Plan
  • Building a Crisis Management Plan
  • Preparing Your Employees for a Crisis
  • Communication in a Crisis
  • How to Build an SOP Handbook

Compliance & Regulatory

Regulatory exposure is a real and growing cost for farm businesses. Our compliance training keeps operators current on the laws, forms, and workplace regulations that apply to their operation before a violation forces the issue.

Example courses include:

  • Laws, Forms and Regulations
  • OSHA 300 Logs
  • DOT Compliance

If Your Clients Have Gaps, Our Training Closes Them

Most agricultural organizations are sitting on a powerful differentiator they’re not using: the ability to walk their clients through a complete business education—financials, HR, succession, leadership, risk, and more—delivered by advisors who’ve worked the land. That’s exactly what a training partnership with UnCommon Farms gives you.

Learn With Producers Who Understand Your Operation

Training is sharper when the room is full of people who’ve faced the same decisions you have. Our peer groups bring together operators at similar stages, in similar roles, to work through challenges together — sharing wins, naming mistakes, and holding each other accountable in ways a solo course never can.

UnCommon Farms hosts peer groups across nine tracks, each designed to meet operators exactly where they are:

  • Agronomy
  • Women’s
  • Legacy
  • New Members
  • Emerging Leaders
  • General Manager
  • Manager Development
  • Operations Manager
  • Financial

Group Training FAQ

Can we customize which courses are offered to our clients?

Yes. Group training partnerships are built around your network’s specific needs, not a preset list. With over 70 courses spanning financials, HR, leadership, succession, risk management, business strategy, safety, and compliance, we have the depth to build a curriculum that’s genuinely relevant to your clients’ stage and challenges. Whether you need a single half-day workshop or a multi-session series, we’ll design it to fit.

Pricing is custom and based on the size of your group, the number of sessions, delivery format (in-person, virtual, or webinar), and the scope of what you need. We don’t publish a fixed rate because the right approach varies significantly from partner to partner. Reach out to start a conversation and we’ll build a proposal around your situation.

We work with a broad range of agricultural industry partners, including lenders, farm bureaus, co-operatives, equipment dealers, and other organizations that serve farm operations. If you have a client base or employee network that would benefit from stronger business, financial, HR, or operational skills, there’s likely a fit. The best way to find out is to reach out and talk through what you’re trying to accomplish.

For most of our catalog, our courses are offered through partner organizations or reserved for UnCommon Farms members. The exception is our FN 101 and FN 102 Financial Fundamentals courses, which are available for direct individual enrollment on a scheduled basis throughout the year. Check the events calendar for upcoming dates.
